LANGUAGES

The languages team has continued to work hard to give our students as many opportunities to experience the cultures of their languages and to use their knowledge of those languages.
Year 9 German students are hard at work preparing for the annual AGTV video competition.
Our VCE German students attended the annual Model United Nations in German early in the term, and a group of students is busy preparing for the arrival of their exchange visitors in September, and for their trip to Germany in November/December which was postponed after the outbreak of war earlier in the year.
Year 9 French students are attending the NGV Winter Masterpieces exhibition later this month, followed by a ‘treasure hunt’ of French businesses in the CBD.
Almost a third of the Year 9 cohort will spend the last week of term 3 in New Caledonia really putting their French to good use, and then all three classes will be off to Roule Galette in Carnegie in term 4 to enjoy crepes.
Recently, our Year 10 French students attended a French theatre show, and a small group of Year 9 and 10 French students participated in the annual AFTV Trivia competition.
Planning is well underway for a trip to France for a group of our Year 10 students, where they will spend time in Paris and Lyon, including some time with host families and attending French classes, as well as exploring what these cities have to offer.
The languages team is proud to be able to offer our students so many opportunities to better know the world around them and to develop their status as global citizens.
