YEAR 8 GIRLS SOCCER SMR CHAMPIONS
The Year 8 Girls Soccer team travelled to Kingston Heath on Friday 14 August, to compete in the SMR finals. The team was motivated and excited after the bus journey to give it their all.
The team defeated EMC by a score of 2-1, a close call. They were eager for the next game against Glen Eira College. They drew 1-1. The third game of the day was against Mornington, which they won 8-0. Our squad advanced to the Finals against Mt Hira, which we won again by a score of 6-0. In each game, the girls gave it their all.
It was an incredible day; all the students should proud. Come on state finals!

YEAR 8 BOYS SOCCER SMR FINALS
The Year 8 Boys Soccer team travelled to Kingston Heath on Thursday 13 August for the Southern Metro Regional Tournament.
The day started well against Frankston when David Kang scored after Zephyr Barbersmith's shot rebounded off the post. The half-time lead disappeared when Frankston scored two quick goals midway through the second half. A late equaliser by Giorgios Sarantinos gave us a deserved point in a very high-quality game.
In the next game against Port Melbourne, we again took the lead when Zephyr Barbersmith's long-range blast rocketed into the top corner. Toby Collier made a couple of outstanding saves to preserve the lead before a breakaway goal gave Port an equaliser right on half-time. Another quick counterattack early in the second half put Port in front and, despite our best efforts, they scored late to secure a 3-1 victory. Unfortunately, this eliminated us from the tournament.

On Wednesday 5 August, the Year 7 Girls Soccer team set off to Kingston Heath Soccer Complex to compete in the Southern Metropolitan Regionals.
The morning started off strong, securing a win over McClelland 5-0. The hardest game of the day was next. The girls played extremely well but were unlucky against Mentone Girls, going down 1-2. The last game was against Mt Eliza where the girls played so well as a team coming away with a win 4-0.
The girls came second in their pool, not making it to the final. Well done to all the students who participated on the day.
