AGATA KOCHERGINA

Year 7 student Agata Kochergina competed in the national U13 Ice Hockey Tournament in Newcastle representing Victoria, during July. 

 

We are proud to announce that as a member of the Victorian Team, Agata was a successful tournament winner, having defeated Queensland in the grand final.

Agata plays the vital role of goalkeeper for her team, a position which puts her under immense pressure in most games. To be a goalkeeper in the winning Victorian side against the rest of Australia is an outstanding achievement. Well done Agata and keep up the amazing work!

DMITRII KOCHERGINA

In further ice hockey news, Agata’s brother Dmitrii Kochergin of Year 9 also participated in the national Ice Hockey Tournament in Newcastle. Dmitrii played in the U15 division.

His team won the gold medal and Dmitrii was individually recognised as both Best Defenseman and Highest Point Scorer!

 

These are exceptional results for Dmitrii following what must have been a standout performance. We extend our congratulations to him also.

DANIELA TAPIA LEAL

Year 12 student Daniela Tapia Leal is a skilled speed climber who has competed both locally and internationally. Below, Daniela updates us on a recent trip to Italy - a great success for her sport and her growing connection to worldwide peers and friends.

“Last month, I had the honour to represent Australia in the Youth World Championships in Arco, Italy, in speed climbing. It was an incredible experience that I learned so much from and I am so grateful that I was able to have the opportunity to compete, placing 32nd in the world. Thank you so much to the school, including all the teachers and students who supported me in this journey.”

FLYNN WALKER & ELLIOT MULHOLLAND PYLE

In SSV news to hand, Flynn Walker of Year 8 and Elliot Mulholland Pyle of Year 9 were successful in making the Vic U14 AFL teams for SSV. They recently competed in the championships representing McKinnon Secondary College in Team Vic. It was a memorable experience.

 

Flynn’s team Vic Navy were awarded the National Champions.

 

They won all 5 games, conceding only 8 goals in the week and scoring 77 goals to achieve an average winning margin of 89 points.

 

Elliotts team Vic White had a challenging draw facing WA, SA, QLD early on. They were very competitive in a tough pool, gaining a couple of wins and some close losses.

 

Congratulations to both boys on games well played.

GRACE YANG

Grace Yang of Year 9 has been a multiple pennant winner in her chosen sport of golf, playing high level competitions across the country for some years.

 

Grace was in the NT from August 1-3 to compete in the 2026 Northern Territory Country Golf Championships, held at the Humpty Doo Golf Club.

 

She came away as the 2026 Women’s Champion in a hotly contested field, adding to the trove of awards already received from her young golfing career.

 

Congratulations Grace, another thrilling finish for you.
