A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

McKinnon was buzzing with incredible energy and community spirit during Monday’s lunchtime MND fundraiser on Monday 20 July.
Our school grounds were transformed into a vibrant sea of blue as students proudly dressed up to raise vital funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease, with giant, blown-up MND beanies bringing the ultimate high-energy vibes to the schoolyard.
While the delicious smell of a classic sausage sizzle drew hungry crowds, the highlight of the day was the epic ice challenge. In the true spirit of good fun and fundraising, twelve brave teachers from each campus dressed up in outfits, only to have buckets of freezing, iced water dumped all over them to the roaring cheers of the student body. It was a wonderful lunchtime that showed just how passionate and generous the McKinnon community is when rallying together for a fantastic cause.

Last Tuesday, 14 July, Mr David Nutting, Ms Carole Hooper and I attended a special event, hosted by the Department of Education, where we received a certificate in recognition of our 35 years of service to the Department.
It was an honour to receive this recognition, and we reflected on our very rewarding careers.

I was very proud that McKinnon's Senior Clarinet Quintet provided the music at this special Presentation Ceremony. Thank you and well done to Chloe Jiang (Year 10), Ruma Lee (Year 10), Xavier Lynch (Year 12), Sacha Rose (Year 10), and Spencer Wu (Year 12).

Special thanks to their teacher, Ms Laura Main, who also accompanied them.
I will be retiring from McKinnon Secondary College and the Department of Education after 37 years of service.
It has been an absolute privilege to be Principal of this incredible school.
I will continue to serve as Principal until the end of the year, and soon a process will begin, managed by the Education Department, to select the new Principal.
In the meantime, I want to thank you for your support of me as I continue the important work of supporting our staff and students to achieve their very best.
