A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

We have had a lot of colour, celebration and recognition this last fortnight as we acknowledged IDAHOBIT DAY the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia, officially marked on 17 May each year but celebrated by us last Monday 18 May with a fantastic bake sale raising funds of Minus 18.

Tuesday 26 May marked National Sorry Day and Wednesday 27 May was the first day of Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2026 is: ‘All In’, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. We celebrated Wear it Yellow by wearing black and red on Wednesday, raising funds for the Children's Ground charity.

It was a pleasure for McKinnon to host the annual Model UN event last Friday 22 May, which showcased the topic of ‘Rewriting the Future’.

McKinnon's athletes have been busy competing at the Volleyball Schools Cup, Boys Netball,Girls Footballand the Kingston Cross Country. We have also celebrated success at state level, with the Senior Boys becoming State Baseball Champions.

Our Senior Ensembles Concert was held on Tuesday night, which showcased the talents of some 160 music students, including incredible performances by our most experienced musicians. Well done to all involved.
