INTO THE WOODS JNR

Congratulations to all the cast and crew of Into The Woods Jnr, who completed three wonderful performances over the weekend! The impressive cast brought their characters vividly to life, creating a highly polished and very fun production.

Way back in 2020, we aimed to do a ‘mini’ show - a chance for our students to experience the joys of musical theatre every year, rather than every second year (as had been the tradition). Sadly, and for obvious reasons, Seussical Jnr was limited to a rather adorable Zoom performance of the opening number. In 2026, after the thrill of Mary Poppins in 2025, we were ready to give it another go.

The McK Mini Musical is the little sibling of our usual whole-school production. At just one hour long, it is about half the scale in cast size, budget and overall production aims. The cast is drawn only from Years 7-10, and the backstage and design roles are filled by our fabulous Year 11 Theatre Studies students.

We are incredibly proud of all the hard work put in by our students and extend our deepest thanks to the staff who put in many hours and much heart to ensure every production, mini or major, is a success and joyful experience for all.

Thank you to Tom Baldwin, Miranda Barber, Michael Birkett, Caleb Goldwaser and Genevieve Grose.

INTO THE WOODS JNR

Into the Woods Jnr was such an incredible experience from start to end. Being a part of this cast is something I will cherish forever, and I will never forget the memories made over those few months. Even from before we had officially started the rehearsals, and auditions were still underway, everyone was so kind and supportive of each other, and I immediately knew this was going to be a truly special group of people.

From the moment rehearsals began, everyone worked so hard to ensure this show wouldn't just astound the eventual audience, but also properly showcase the immense dedication and effort of every single person involved. When the show fully came together, I remember feeling such gratitude and excitement to share our hard work with an audience.

The laughs, personal growth, and pure happiness from this production were unmatched. I’m so grateful for this chance to grow as a performer and build friendships that will last a lifetime. Whether it be looking back on rehearsals vlogs, reminiscing on backstage chats, or simply stepping back into G.2, I know that these purely joyful memories that came with this show are some that each of us will hold in our hearts forever.
