SPORT: SMR FINALS
YEAR 7 BOYS & GIRLS: SMR TENNIS CHAMPIONS
The SMR tennis finals for Year 7 Boys and Girls took place at Glen Waverley Sports hub on a very windy Wednesday. Both teams played some incredible tennis throughout the day, with the boys having a tough final round against Glen Eira College.
Both teams won their final round and will be attending State Finals in mid-November.

YEAR 8 GIRLS TENNIS: SMR CHAMPIONS
On Monday 14 September the Year 8 Girls Tennis team set off to the SMR finals.
The first game was close against Kambrya College but we persevered and pushed through to win 4-2. The last two games in our pool were against Dromana SC and Berwick College where the girls dominated the court winning both games 6-0.
The final was against Patterson River SC and the girls once again dominated the court to successfully win 6-0.
I am so proud of the girls' efforts, their determination and team bonding throughout the day. Well done girls!. State Finals, here we come!

YEAR 8 BOYS TENNIS: SMR CHAMPIONS
On Monday 14 September the Year 8 Tennis Boys team played in the SMR finals at Casey Fields.
The boys won the pool matches against Kambrya 6-0, Berwick 5-1 and Dromana 5-1.
In the Final the boys tied 3 sets each with Frankston but won on game 15-13.
This moves the boys into the State Finals on Monday 19 November.
The team was Jayden Bone, Shiv Gaind, Jake Krywicki, Aaron Sikka, Ayush Srinivasa and Linuka Liyanaarachchi.

SENIOR BOYS BASKETBALL: SMR FINALISTS
McKinnon SC attended the SMR finals in Pakenham on Thursday 3 September. Needing to win every game to make the grand final and earn a spot at term four's state finals, McKinnon started strong.
We won the first game 45-15 against Elizabeth Murdoch SC. The second game was against Albert Park SC; again, McKinnon prevailed, winning by 25 points. The final game was against Berwick SC, a school that has a full-time basketball academy and is the current reigning national champions. The game was close, with the score tied at halftime at 25 points. A tough contest and close game until the end, sadly, saw McKinnon lose by eight points and miss out on a state finals berth.
The entire senior team played extremely well, with a special mention to Shan Chehal, Xavier Wadeson, Charlie O'Shea, Charlie Howley and Eamon Taylor. I have had the pleasure of coaching these boys to two Kingston titles in three years. Congrats on representing your school with grace and determination and best of luck in your future basketball endeavours.

SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL: SMR FINALISTS
The Senior Girls Basketball knew they had a rough day ahead with Berwick and Mentone Girls in their pool, but they didn't let this dampen their spirit. The girls fought through a tough first match against Cranbourne West, narrowly taking the win! The girls then knew they had their two toughest games ahead! Unfortunately, we lost the next two matches, but the girls never gave up and worked their hardest in every match played.
Although the day was not as successful as they had hoped, nothing dampened their spirit and they all had a great day! It was a pleasure coaching you girls on the day and thank you to those of you that were last minute callups on the day!
Well done to Evie Haywood (Year 11), Jemima Boyle (Year 12), Emily Ellis (Year 12), Ellie Heron (Year 11), Isobel Huntley (Year 11), Allegra Meszaros (Year 11), Gwyneth Poon (Year 11) for their consistent efforts on the day, and thanks to Clara Lovell (Year 12) and Abbie Slaughter (Year 12) for coming to help out on the day!
