HEALTH

WELCOME TO THE HEALTH FACULTY – 2026!

Welcome back to all returning families and students for what promises to be an engaging and productive year. We would like to extend a special welcome to our Year 7 cohort and those new students joining the McKinnon Secondary College community for the first time. It is a pleasure to have you with us.

The Health Faculty offers a diverse range of subjects designed to equip students with both practical life skills and a deep understanding of wellbeing. Our current curriculum includes:

🍎 Food Technology - Year 7, Year 9 & Year 10

🍎 Health - Year 10

🍎 VCE Studies - Food Studies and Health + Human Development

Our team of dynamic educators and support staff are eager to guide students in exploring how health impacts the individual, their families, and the wider global community. We aim to inspire a perspective on wellbeing that extends far beyond the classroom.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding 2025 VCE results within the Health Faculty. These achievements are not the result of a single year’s work, but rather the culmination of the dedication and diligence shown by students and staff from Year 7 through to Year 12.

Congratulations to all our students and faculty members for these exceptional outcomes. We look forward to building on this momentum throughout 2026.

SUSTAINABILITY

A friendly reminder to all students enrolled in Food Technology and Food Studies at McKinnon Secondary College regarding our commitment to sustainability.

To support our environmental goals, we encourage all students to bring a clean, large reusable container to school each week for their practical production lessons.

Utilising reusable containers offers several key benefits:

  • Helps reduce local waste, combat pollution, and decrease the energy consumption associated with the manufacturing of single-use materials.

  • Ensures your culinary work arrives home securely and in peak condition for family members to view and enjoy.

  • Promotes the use of high-quality, food-safe materials for storage.
