THE GREAT MUFFIN BAKE-OFF
Hello, I am Mehar Dagar in Year 7.
This is my first year doing Food Tech at school. I am really enjoying making the different foods every week.
In Term 1, for our second learning task in Food Tech, we were tasked to create a design brief for high in fibre muffins by choosing a fruit or vegetable with a minimum of two complementary flavours, which is high in fiber to increase Year 7s fibre intake and to encourage students to bring healthy snacks to school. We created six potential flavour combinations - three savoury, three sweet, and then chose our favourite.
I chose to bake six apple and cinnamon muffins with vanilla extract and maple. Other classes made their muffins at school, but because of a few interruptions in our classes, my class had to make them at home.

I had fun baking - even though my muffins turned out dry and had a strong egg flavour, but other than that they tasted good and looked appealing. Through this task I learnt how to describe food by explaining their appearance, smell, texture, flavour and that different batters and recipes require specific number of stirs.
I am eager to experiment with more flavours when cooking inside and outside of school.
