SENIOR SMR BASEBALL
On Monday the 27th of April McKinnon's finest Senior Baseballers battled it out to eventually win the SMR final and are on the road to again compete at State level.
Highlights of the day included some great pitching from all pitchers with Oscar bringing us home with a perfect sweep in the last game. Harish completed a great double play taking a catch and getting the ball swiftly to base for another out. Fletch wants everyone to know about his outfield throw to stop a run in the final and Ayan's last hit to get Harish home put the team ahead by 4 runs.
A big shout out to all of our Baseballers who play outside of school, their on field teaching was inspirational. Jesus in particular was commanding as our catcher and led by example with his sportsmanship, even coaching the opposition in one game!
The boys represented the college with pride and are in training for what will be a successful showing at the upcoming State Finals regardless of the end result. Baseball is the true winner here.

SMR SOFTBALL
This week we had 3 teams competing at the Southern Metro Region Softball Finals after successfully being crowned Kingston Champions in term 1.
Making it to SMR is a huge success and all of the girls should be proud of their achievements.
The senior girls played on Monday 27th April, starting their campaign with a convincing win against Nossal Secondary College. Their second game was much tougher as they came up against KooWeeRup Secondary College who were the eventual champions of the region. The girls played well and scored lots of runs, but unfortunately couldn’t secure the win to take them to the Grand Final.
Congratulations to Rosie O’Brien, Evie Haywood, Clara Lovell, Matilda Kelleher, Jade Feder, Sophie Kay, Emma Lindsay and Jemima Boyle.
The intermediate team played on Tuesday 28th April. Their day was always going to be tough as our talented year 9’s took on the best year 10 students from across the region. They played well in their first game defeating Nossal Secondary College with a clean sweep of 7 runs in each innings, before going on to play Frankston Secondary College. This was a close game, with the girls stealing bases to bring them close to a victory, unfortunately they lost by 1 run, so were unable to play in the final.
Congratulations to April Thomas, Sienna Cabrita, Renee Landini, Abbey Muyemba, Amelia Behrendt, Ella Graham, Eva Kentera, Mia Lyubic, Miranda Saks, Amelia Virgona and Lexi Watts.
The year 7 team had their SMR Finals on Wednesday 29th April. The girls who were only introduced to Softball in term 1 did themselves proud as they started strong in their first game against Frankston Secondary College taking a 7-5 lead in the 1st innings, unfortunately they couldn’t hold onto this momentum as Frankston snook ahead of them winning the game by 3 runs. In their second game they came up against an experienced Elisabeth Murdoch team who proved too strong for our year 7’s.
Congratulations to Nathalie Avanzi, Helena Balabas, Anna Borisov, Chloe Chee, Seah Han, Lilah Macfarlane, Olive Maher, Evie Nanscawen, Angela Shtern, Ella Strachan and Noam Zohar.
