ANZAC DAY

Thank you to School Captains Maleesha Dharmadasa and Gus Booth for representing the school at the Caulfield Cenotaph with me for the City of Glen Eira ANZAC Day Service held on Sunday 19 April.

I also thank our East Campus Captains Trisha Mehta and Chamath Dharmadasa, our Senior Singers and Senior Brass Ensemble who represented McKinnon at the ANZAC commemorative service at the Bentleigh RSL along with Mr Quinn, Mr Serebrianik and Ms Blanka West.

I have received several emails from members of the public attending these events, complimenting our students for the respectful manner in which they conducted themselves, as well as congratulating the incredible music performances. Thank you for your leadership and for giving up your time to ensure our school was part of such an important tradition.

Being invited to represent our school at these services is a privilege we do not take lightly. It strengthens our community connection and allows us to express our gratitude to our veterans and their families that their legacy is understood by the next generations.

‘LEST WE FORGET’

CAMPS

Congratulations to our Year 7s on a successful camp at Phillip Island - you've set a wonderful tone for your first year of secondary school. Seeing our youngest students build new friendships and display such resilience was a great highlight of last Term.

We also celebrate our Year 11 students as they embarked on their Central Australia odyssey. This journey to the heart of our country is a significant milestone. These programs are only possible through the immense effort of our incredible staff. I am deeply grateful to the teachers and support team for their tireless work behind the scenes and their round-the-clock care for our students.

PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES

Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for our recent conferences. We greatly value the bridge between home and school, as it’s this partnership that allows our students to thrive. We hope the conversations were helpful and provide a clear, positive path forward for every student.

ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY

Over the coming weeks students will be participating in the Department of Education's annual Attitudes to School Survey.

This is a great way to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school, and the feedback helps to drive ongoing school improvement. The survey will take around 20 minutes and students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

More information is included in this document. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
